Hey! Do you know what’s beyond AWESOME???
Getting kicked in the head for trying to get your kid dressed for an “ice cream/fountain romping” play date invitation you accepted because you thought it would be so sooooo much fun for him…
Normally, I would have given up and called with regrets, but I said we’d be there and gosh darnit we ARE going to be there. No matter how much he kicks and screams about it…
Frankly, I don’t know how anyone could wear a pout while eating ice cream with rainbow sprinkles, Oreos, and watermelon (his choice), but Scout seems to be workin’ it.
I’m no slouch when it comes to being a SAHM. Our weeks are filled with play dates, story times, and trips to organic farms, parks, and museums (lots… and lots… of museums)… at his pace, of course.
I put a lot of work into keeping him busy, as well as engaged and entertained, but, like his Daddy, he’s a homebody at heart and would love nothing more than to just zone out in front of a screen all day and all night.
You’d think I was giving him a root canal instead of just getting him out the door. Something I wonder, is it even worth all the effort?
Also like his Daddy, once I do manage to get him off the sofa… and dressed… and in the car, the wild protests subside and he ends up having a fabulous time. Ha! Told you so.
What a MEAN and HORRIBLE mommy, I am, making him eat all of his ice cream and frolic in the water…
Eh, I think he’s over it.

Yes, you are SO mean, how dare you make him eat ice cream and have fun! Wow, you keep him so busy…I only do about half that stuff…my daughter gets a bit cranky after a few hours out and my son cranky when it is only a few hours….how do ya win!

Why do they protest the things you know they will love. I think it might simply be for the love of protest and nothing else. Makes our jobs mighty challenging some days.
