About Me: 

Hello. I’m Grace Duffy. I’m married to Mike and we have two beautiful children, a boy named online “Scout”, age 5, and a girl named online, “Lou”, age 2.  They have his intelligence, kindness, and forehead, and my persistence, daring, and smile. Their ideas are all their own.

I was born in Brooklyn, New York, the first child of Filipino immigrants. I grew up in Fort Worth, Texas, where I was contantly asked, “Why type of Mexican are ya?”

I met Mike the summer after college when I officially swore off dating. (Of course.) We were married two years later and eagerly settled into a cushy suburban existence just outside of Dallas.

I thought I would live and die in Texas until my husband’s career in CG animation took us from Dallas to London, England and now on to Silicon Valley… and that was just in one year. I’m certain we’ll be settled in Silicon Valley for a while, but then again…   that’s what I thought right before the last two moves.

I have a Bachelors in Psychology and an MBA in Marketing, but the best lessons have come from experience.

About this blog: 

My career in online began when it was still called “New Media”. I was an ambitious account executive at a respectable advertising agency and the youngest person on the account when my supervisors handed me a multi-million dollar, international online ad spend to manage.

“Trial by fire”, they kept calling it. Hurrah! for ignorance and youth, because I jumped right in, full of  blind hope and boundless energy. To this day, that is exactly how I’ve approached everything in my life. You never know until you try.

We lost the account months later. (Not my doing, I should add…) I went on to be an online marketing manager for another successful company, where I spearheaded several social media brand initiatives and kept up with industry trends, but never once did I consider applying any of that knowledge to myself…

That is, until I somewhat reluctantly left my job to become a stay-at-home mom in early 2007. I decided to launch a blog as a way to “stay current” in my field. Little did I know, it would take on a life of its own!

What started as a fascination has grown into a career as a social media consultant and a freelance writer. (Hire me!)

I’m proud to call myself a “mommy blogger”, because I’m proud to call myself a mommy. However, I am interested in a variety of things- tech, books, movies, food, photography, religion..  and this is where I write about it.

I’m the tech columnist for She Posts and a contributor on Mama Manifesto and Technorati’s Women’s Channel, but this blog is all my own.
