Peanut Butter Blossoms

I brought my very favorite cookies to share with playgroup this week, explaining that we had a peanut butter surplus at our house.

“A peanut butter surplus? Is that even possible?” one of the moms asked.

Uh, it could happen… (chomp, chomp, chomp)

Peanut Butter Blossoms

Ingredients:

  • 48 HERSHEY’S KISSES Brand Milk Chocolates
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 3/4 cup Creamy Peanut Butter
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Granulated sugar

Directions:
1. Heat oven to 375°F. Remove wrappers from chocolates.

2. Beat shortening and peanut butter in large bowl until well blended. Add 1/3 cup granulated sugar and brown sugar; beat until fluffy. Add egg, milk and vanilla; beat well. Stir together flour, baking soda and salt; gradually beat into peanut butter mixture.

3. Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Roll in granulated sugar; place on ungreased cookie sheet.

4. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Immediately press a chocolate into center of each cookie; cookie will crack around edges. Remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. Cool completely. About 4 dozen cookies.

  1. I love these! I don’t think I could find the Hershey’s kisses in the UK, although I do have some peanut butter.

  2. Here’s the quick-and-dirty version:
    1 egg
    1 cup PB
    1 cup sugar

    Heat oven to 350F.
    Beat ingredients, form small balls.
Bake for ten minutes, then remove and press kiss into each ball. Transfer to rack to cool.

  3. I love these cookies. Ymmm … I may have to do some baking of my own today.

  4. These are my all-time favorite cookies!!!! Thanks for posting. I don’t think I’ll be making them soon, as “the boys” don’t seem to let me eat too much sugary food. So I have two things to look forward to after delivery, drinking alcohol again (although not much, I will be nursing) and eating whatever I want!!!

  5. I think one of them winked at me…

Does that mean I win the whole batch? 🙂
