In The Motherhood…Eh

I was eagerly awaiting the premier of ABC’s “In The Motherhood” last week because I so adored the web series (now defunct).

The premise was simple. Viewers were asked to send in their true life stories about motherhood, then vote on other stories already submitted. The picks were then made into quick, witty webisodes.

It had a great following, so what went wrong with the transition to network?

Is the Writers Guild of America to blame for the loss of humorous content, relatable situations, and likable characters? Are Chelsea Handler, Jenny McCarthy, and Leah Remini, the stars of the web series, just plain funnier? Or was it all of the tired old stereotypes of motherhood in general?

Maybe parenting just isn’t funny. (I guess in that case, neither is this blog. Hmm…)

Whatever it was, I was sorely disappointed when I finally found time in my frazzled mommy existence to watch the network premier of “In The Motherhood”.

I only hope TV never gets a hold of The Guild.

  1. I meant to dvr this, and I just plain forgot…sounds like I didn’t miss anything…

I love how folks get a hold of a hit and turn it into a miss:P

  2. I was really disappointed too. In fact I love Cheryl Hines and motherhood IS funny. Something about the pace of the story threw me off. I can’t quite put my finger on it though…

Sarah’s last blog post..long live the king
