We’ve had very few quiet mornings at home since Scout started school again. Each day, there’s been brunch with friends, a new music class to check out, girly shopping trips… and before we know it, it’s time to “Go get Brother!” (sing-song voice)
We’ve been having a great time, but still, how thrilled was I to find that we had an entire day to ourselves last week?
With PTA meeting scheduled for the late afternoon, I let Scout stay for lunch and extended care. He’s only been begging to stay ever since he noticed the other kids playing Legos while he had to go home and eat a crumby PB+J with his lame-o mom…
No boys and no noise for an entire day! I envisioned long naps for Lou and blissful “getting stuff done” for me. In between, there would be stacking blocks that won’t get pushed over and reading pictures books without a million questions or sirens or “crash, boom, BEEP, BEEP, BEEP”.
Oh, Sweet, sweet calm!
Little did I know, she was merely waiting for my undivided attention…
From the moment we dropped off Scout, there flowed an endless stream of consciousness comprised of the three words that make up Lou’s entire vocabulary: Ma!, Da! (Daddy or “what’s that?” depending on emphasis), and Ba! (sometimes “Brother”, but usually “BERT”… and yes, that Bert.)
Ma! Da? BA! Ma! Da? Ba! Annnnnnd… repeat!
Such a cutie. It’s so fun to see how different they are when their siblings aren’t around.
Ha! I love when kids figure out that it’s their chance to be in the spotlight!
Good for her! It is so cute to see what happens when you get to spend one on one time with a child.
Both of my kids love having their one on one time with Mommy and Daddy! Meredith takes full advantage of being able to snuggle and do nothing but read books and play chase and Jonah takes full advantage of being able to go “somewhere” with us and having our undivided attention while he plays.
She’s adorable! And I LOVE the babble! My daughter’s fave: Memo. Yeah, drags his little red body all over the house.
That is so cute! You have an adorable baby. Nice to know you, Gracie.

Love that first picture of her with her mouth open. Like she’s saying, “AHA! Now I’ve got you!”
Stopping by from our SITS Flipper tribe!
Stopping in from the Flipper Tribe! My father’s name is Bert, so that made me laugh that Lou has it in her repetoire!
Sounds like a crazy day for you – although I’m sure you had a lot of fun too!
First things first, I love your banner and the colours on your blog. So fresh!
Second things second, I love that Lou loves Bert. What an original! When most kids are going mainstream with Elmo or maybe even Big Bird or Ernie – yours loves Bert. Who loves Bert? Independent thinkers that’s who! I see good things for Lou in her future as she increases her vocabulary and Bert sets her up for a life of confidence saying no to peer pressure…. or maybe it’s just a doll. I like the former better!
