Digital Strategist. Tech Writer. Mommy Blogger. Marketer.

Hello. I’m Grace Duffy. I began my career in online marketing when it was still called “new media”. I have overseen award-wining advertising campaigns and social media initiatives from both an agency and client perspective. I am currently a Principal and Co-Founder of Splash Creative Media and freelance as a tech writer and/or social media consultant from time to time.

I have written tech articles for ShePosts, Type-A Parent, and Technorati’s Women Channel. My work has also appeared on the Silicon Valley Moms Blog, Mama Manifestoand CBS San Francisco Family Page. I have also developed web content for the company blogs of Tiny Prints, Santa.com, and Zulily, and for PR campaigns promoting Sony Electronics, AVG Technologies, Samsung, and other consumer and tech brands.

I have held speaking engagements at BlogHer’11 Conference, Type-A Parent Conference 2012, and AVG Technologies 2013 Product Launch.

I have a Bachelors in Psychology and an MBA in Marketing, but the best lessons have come from experiencing life as it happens!

You can email me at grace {at} formerlygracie {dot} com or find me on Twitter @graceduffy.

If you would like to reach me for a professionally opportunity, my resume and background can be found on LinkedIn.

 About My Family:

I am married to Mike and we have two beautiful children- a boy named online “Scout”, age 7, and a girl named online, “Lou”, age 4.  They have his intelligence, kindness, and forehead, and my persistence, daring, and smile. Their ideas are all their own.

I was born in Brooklyn, New York, the first child of Filipino immigrants. I grew up in Fort Worth, Texas, where I was constantly asked, “Why type of Mexican are ya?”

I met Mike the summer after college when I officially swore off dating. (Of course.) We were married two years later on October 16th, 2004 and eagerly settled into a cushy suburban existence just outside of Dallas, Texas.  I thought I would live and die in Texas until my husband’s career in CG animation took us from Dallas to London, England and on to Silicon Valley… and that was just in one year.

“I’m certain we’ll be settled in Silicon Valley for a while, but then again… that’s what I thought prior the last two moves.”

Ha! Ha! Ha! I wrote that last line two… maybe, three moves ago. I’ve seriously lost count by now. In June of 2012, we bid a tearful and heavyhearted good-bye to the Bay Area and moved back to Dallas, Texas, which is where we plan to stay for good.

And this time… I mean it!

About this blog:

I have been blogging for seven years, not all of them consistently. This year (2014), I have decided to do away with the sponsored posts, product reviews, and blogger events… and just write.

The focus of my site(s) has changed over the years, along with my interests and our family’s circumstances.  The only constant has been that my life… our life… has been a series of daring adventures, leaps of faith, falling down, and getting back up again, which I have had to learn how to embrace fully and… gracefully.

Suitably, the name of this site comes from this very idea: “Formerly” signifies of change. “Gracie” was my nickname in high school and along with it, everything that my life was “supposed” to be.

Thank you for stopping by!
