The House That Never Sleeps

He comes by it honestly. I’m a night owl. My husband is a night owl. He’s a night owl… and he’s stubborn as all get out.

(He comes by that honestly too.)

Sleeping through the night isn’t the issue. Well, most of the time… The problem is getting the mind with a million questions to be still long enough to actually fall asleep.

Bedtime at our house has always been rather…fluid. We’ve tried to be strict about it, but at the end of the day, we’re both wiped and it doesn’t take much to erode our resolve.

I can’t find my shadow!

It’s sleeping.

Where did blankets go?

On your bed… and you just kick them off anyway.

It’s too hot!

See what I mean.

Where did the moon go?

Daddy answer: Well, you see. As the moon orbits the Earth, it goes through cycles…

Mommy answer: Mommy ate it. Go to bed!

I took my diaper off, Mommy.

Awesome!

The sun is out!

I freaking HATE Day Light Savings!

I want more cuddles!

How can I resist?

I put Miss Peach to bed, close the door, and she bangs around for HOURS! It’s like she’s remodeling or something. She always gets to sleep…but it takes forever:P I knew all bets were off when we moved to the big girl bed…

“Mommy ate it!” Ha ha ha! That almost made me spit out my coffee. Although if I was a little kid I’d probably say something to the effect of “Open your mouth so I can see the light coming up from your stomach”. Moonbeams out of mouths…. so unintentionally poetic.

Thanks for stopping by my site.

This is a great post! I can totally relate. It took my son a week and a half to adjust.

Are you in SF? We lived there for 4 years and absolutely loved it!
